Most people who visit Venice take a day trip to the nearby island of Murano, famous for its hand-blown glass. A lot more interesting is the adjacent island of Burano. Walk down any of its narrow streets and you'll encounter a dizzying kaleidoscope where there are no cookie cutter houses, no carefully orchestrated colour coordinated buildings. Where a lime green house exists peacefully with its fuchsia neighbour, and a silver haired granny cheerfully flaunts a psychedelic dress.
I don't know about you but my Mondays can always use a dash of colour.
